Treatment Photography

Treament Photography Questions

1. Type of production and brief details onSubject/Concept:
-  In Motion Photography is to do with movement, for my pictures i would like to use sport for instance a footballer or a rugby player running with the ball with the surrounding players blured behind them.

This is the kind of idea i was thinking of doing as it makes the player look like they are going extremley fast and i personaly like this effect, especially when looking at sport pictures.

Also I have an idea of taking a picture of a dandelion in the wind with the pollon floating into the air.

Also i would like to get some pictures of moving cars on a motorway from a high angle or from the side
2. Facilities: What facilities do you need for this project list all including software and hardware for the whole project:
-  A Canon 500D camera and tripod
- Spare batteries
- Memory Card
- A safe location to take the pictures
- Photoshop
3. Finance: If you produced this project outside of the college you need to show how much would it cost to hire the equipment that you intend to use.
 - Canon 450D Camera; £100.83 for a weekly hire.
 - Camlink TPPRE20 Premium Tripod; £19.99
 - Sandisk 8GB Card; £8 for weekly hire.
 - Photo Editing Software (Photoshop); £23 for a Month.
4. Contributors: Who do you need to help this for you project? This includes talent and crew.
I will need help from my Friend who i will ask to do diferent things for me so i can try and capture the movement. Also i will need help from Don or Chris with the camera, for instance asking how to change the apeture and shutter speed to capture the type of images i would like.
5. Presentation: How will you present the pictures? Will you include a soundtrack, think about copy write issues etc.
After i have captured my in motion photographs i will present them in a slideshow, i may add some music if i think i can get music to represent and corrospond with my pictures. If I do use music in my presentation i will clearly state who the song is by, to give them credit so it will not be copy right.

Portraiture

Portiture
Portrait photography, is most commonly known as portaiture, this is a type of photography that looks for the meaning in photographs. The photographer focuses mainly on the models facial expressions and looks for the emotion within the image.

Diane Arbus
Diane Arbus was born March 14, 1923 and died July 26, 1971, she was an american photographer who was well known for taking pictures of deviant and marginal people; dwafs, giants transvestites, nudists and circus performers. Pictures with these types of people in were very unusual back then as society were not used to it, you wouldnt usually see them in pictures as people thought they were ugly and surreal, however Diane wanted to find out more about them, she was interested in them as they were not like everyone else; they were different. Diane was known"as the photographer of freaks" back when she was taking the pictutres, but now people look at her work to see how magnificent the pictures were.

Diane Arbus took this picture in 1962, a small boy clenching his right hand round a toy grenade whilst his left hand clenched in a claw like gesture. The boys expression shows confusion, it kind of looks as if he is in shock about what is going on around him.

Diane used to take pictures of a variety of things but some of her main well known images, are of the Matthaei family. Her most famous picture was of the daughter, 'Marcelle Matthaei' at elevn years old.

Photojournalism Part 2

Robert Capa

Robert Capa was born October 22nd 1913 and died may 25th 1954, he was a Hungarian photojournalist who took the most famous pictures of the decisive moment. Capa's pictures brought fame, reality and an understanding of the war, people were shocked to see that a photographer would risk his life just to get a good picture. Capa unlike Tony Vaccaro could drop in and out of conflict.
This is one of Capa's most famous pictures, the death of a spanish soldier in the civil war. Capa caught this picture exactly in the decisive moment when the soldier was being shot, he captured the drama and horrific secens of being in the war.

Tony Vaccaro

Tony Vaccaro was born 20th december 1922. He was a soldier in WW2 but also took pictures of the war in progress, he took the best pictures of the war, some were very graphic but would have been sensored before reaching the public. Vaccaro took the best pictures of WW2 because he was so close to the action, even more close then Capa would have been. He always had his camera on him as well as the standard army equipment for instance; a gun. Unlike Henri Cartier-Bresson, Vaccaro couldnt offord a leica camera so used and argos C4 however towards the end of the war he was able to get a cheap leica. Vaccaro  found the ruins of an old camera store and found some of the chemicals used when developing pictures, he decided that he was going to develop his own pictures. He did all the neccisary steps and then hung the pictures on a nearby tree, went to sleep and the next morning they had appeard.

Both Photographers captured important close up and personal pictures. They realise that there is more then meets the eye and you can not trust pictures as they don't show the truth. However Rodger Fenton showed that there is an alternative to being in the right place at the right time. There was no dead bodies or shoting soldiers in his picture but it still shows the devistation of the war.
